Impact of Quantum Computing on Modern Encryption Systems

| Abstract | Quantum computing is emerging as a powerful technology capable of transforming modern cybersecurity and encryption systems. Unlike classical computers, quantum computers use qubits and principles such as superposition and entanglement to perform complex computations at extremely high speeds. While this advancement offers major benefits, it also threatens existing cryptographic systems such as RSA and ECC through quantum algorithms like Shor’s and Grover’s Algorithm. This paper analyzes the impact of quantum computing on modern encryption techniques, highlights vulnerabilities in current security systems, and explores solutions including Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). The study also discusses implementation challenges and the future of quantum-safe cybersecurity frameworks |
