Negotiating Home and Exile: Diasporic Identity in The Saffron Kitchen and The Good Muslim

Author(s) Ms. Hajira Khatoon
Country India
Abstract In Diasporic studies, identity and history are intricately linked with past problems and gaps, playing a significant role in shaping a new identity. This study examines two selected contemporary fictional novels: Yasmin Crowther’s The Saffron Kitchen and Tahmima Anam’s The Good Muslim, which highlight the experiences of their protagonists in terms of migration, exile, and identity issues. This research contends that the relationship between the homeland and host countries is more nuanced than a simple interchange, and the past remains profoundly undisturbed, as revealed by the complexities of diasporic experiences.
