Design and Implementation of a Secure Web-Based Student Information Management System

| Abstract | The rapid advancement of information technology has transformed how organizations manage and secure data. Educational institutions, in particular, require efficient systems to handle student records, staff information, course registration, academic results, and communication processes. Traditionally, many institutions relied on paper-based methods for storing and managing information, which often resulted in data redundancy, inconsistency, loss of records, and delays in information retrieval. To overcome these challenges, many institutions have adopted web-based information management systems. However, despite improving accessibility and efficiency, some existing systems lack proper security mechanisms, making them vulnerable to cyber threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, broken authentication, and unauthorized access. The increasing rate of web application attacks has made information security an essential aspect of system development. This research focuses on the design and implementation of a secure web-based student information management system using Laravel Framework. The study aims to provide a reliable and secure platform for managing academic information while protecting sensitive student and staff data from common web vulnerabilities. By integrating modern web technologies and security practices, the proposed system seeks to improve efficiency, accessibility, and data protection within academic institutions. |
