| Abstract | To assess the effectiveness of a computer-assisted teaching programme on knowledge and practice regarding prevention of genitourinary infections among antenatal women.DesignA quantitative quasi-experimental pre-test post-test control group design was adopted.SettingThe study was conducted in the antenatal ward of the selected tertiary care hospitalPopulationSixty antenatal women diagnosed with urinary tract infection, vaginal candidiasis, or both were selected, with 30 participants each in the experimental and control groups. MethodsNon-probability purposive sampling was used. Data were collected using a socio-demographic and clinical data sheet, structured knowledge questionnaire, and practice rating scale. Pre-tests were conducted for both groups. The experimental group received a one-hour computer-assisted teaching programme, while the control group received routine care. Post-tests were conducted on the seventh day. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Main Outcome MeasuresKnowledge and practice scores regarding prevention of genitourinary infections among antenatal women. ResultsPost-test knowledge scores (p<0.001) and practice scores (p<0.05) improved significantly in the experimental group compared with the control group. No significant correlation or demographic association was found. |
