Abstract	Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to a suit of advanced technologies that allow machines to automatically carry out tasks, make judgments, and find out relevant solutions to accomplish well-defined objectives. AI can stimulate the human thought process and based on those thoughts it can take actions and even draw conclusions. Nowadays AI technology has launched a variety of tools that can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of academic research. Research scholars are utilizing different types of AI tools for a variety of research-related tasks, such as rapid data processing, academic writing assistance, automated citation management, etc. However, the rapid adoption of AI tools in research has also raised ethical debates specifically related to academic integrity, originality, and the reliability of AI-generated sources. This study examines the general awareness and use of AI tools in academic research among social science research scholars. The study also aims to shed light on the perceptions of research scholars regarding the usefulness and ethical concerns of implementing AI in academic research. The study surveyed 60 social science research scholars using a structured questionnaire with 20 items. The study found a universal high level of awareness, as all surveyed research scholars demonstrated some level of familiarity with AI tools. The findings also reveal strong support for the incorporation of AI tools in the academic research process for tasks such as grammar and language correction, plagiarism checking, and literature review. The majority of the respondents have positive perceptions of AI tools and thus incorporate them in their academic research. The study revealed that a significant proportion of social science researchers are highly concerned about the ethical implications of AI in research, especially in terms of originality of AI-generated content, plagiarism, and data privacy risks.
