| Abstract | Modernization has significantly transformed the socio-cultural and economic life of tribal communities in Jharkhand. The processes of industrialization, urbanization, globalization, mining expansion, technological advancement, and modern education have altered traditional tribal lifestyles, occupations, social structures, language, and ecological relationships. This research article examines the impact of modernization on tribal culture from a geographical perspective, emphasizing spatial transformation, migration, land-use changes, and socio-cultural adaptation. The study is based on secondary data collected from journals, government reports, census documents, and scholarly publications. The findings reveal that modernization has improved literacy, healthcare, transport, and economic opportunities, but simultaneously contributed to cultural erosion, displacement, environmental degradation, and weakening of indigenous identity. The paper argues for sustainable and culturally sensitive development policies to preserve tribal heritage while ensuring inclusive modernization. |
