| Abstract | Demand for natural, sustainable and reproducible bioproducts as an alternative to the toxic synthetic pigments and biosurfactants has been rising in recent days. There were limited studies on the simultaneous production of pigments and biosurfactants, and on the design of cost-effective and efficient dual production systems. This research explored the feasibility of simultaneously producing and characterising pigment and a biosurfactant by the same strain isolated from soil environments. The significance of this research lies in the successful identification of an isolate that produced two industrially important metabolites, reducing cost and time, utilising inexpensive substrates, resulting in an increase in the industrial value of the dual-function system. This research used GCMS and Raman spectroscopy to confirm the production of biosurfactants and pigments. |
