| Abstract | This study explores the level of awareness of micro business owners in Baliwag City regarding the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) Act of 2002 and its influence on their intention to register under this law. Utilizing an explanatory-sequential mixed-methods research design, the study gathered data from 256 micro trading business owners. Quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews were conducted to assess their awareness and intentions. Results indicated a generally low level of awareness among respondents about the provisions and benefits of the BMBE Act, particularly on qualification and credit delivery benefits. Meanwhile, their intention to register reflected a moderate intention. The Pearson Correlation test revealed a statistically significant relationship with a moderate strength of association between the level of awareness and the intention to register, thereby rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis. Moreover, the responses in terms of the motivations and drawbacks to register were saturated on the fiscal benefits and constraints, respectively. Anchored on these results, the study recommends initiatives to reinforce awareness among the beneficiaries and enhance their intention to avail. |
