A Lightweight Signature-Based Network Intrusion Detection System for Resource-Constrained Educational Institutions

Abstract Educational institutions often face cybersecurity challenges due to limited resources and increasing cyber threats. This research presents a lightweight signature-based Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) that detects known attacks such as port scanning and DoS attacks while maintaining low resource consumption. The proposed solution enhances network security and provides a cost-effective approach for resource-constrained educational environments.
