| Abstract | This study examined the effect of power outage disruption on employee productivity and the performance of the food industry in Davao Oriental. A quantitative descriptive-correlational research design was employed, involving 120 respondents from registered food establishments in Mati City, Lupon, and Governor Generoso. Data were collected using a validated researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Findings revealed that power outage disruption was perceived at a very high level, particularly in operational, financial, and customer-safety aspects. Employee productivity was negatively affected in terms of work efficiency, output quality, and adaptability, while the overall performance of food businesses was significantly reduced in terms of financial performance, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness. Correlation analysis showed significant negative relationships between power outage disruption and employee productivity (r = −0.599, p < .001), as well as business performance (r = −0.679, p < .001). Regression analysis further confirmed that power outage disruption significantly predicts both employee productivity and food industry performance. The study concludes that reliable electricity supply is essential for sustaining organizational productivity, operational efficiency, and business competitiveness in the food industry. It is recommended that food establishments invest in alternative power sources and that energy providers strengthen power infrastructure to minimize disruptions and support economic sustainability in Davao Oriental. |
