| Abstract | ABSTRACT Background: Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) commonly experience sensory processing difficulties that affect daily activities and social participation. Case presentation: A 3.7-year -old girl with autism presented with tactile defensiveness, oral sensory sensitivity, repetitive behaviors, attention difficulties, and social participation challenges. Assessment was conducted using clinical observation, parental interview, and standardized test. Intervention: A sensory integration (SI) based occupational therapy program was provided for 12 weeks, four sessions per week, along with parent education and a home program. Result: improvements were observed in tactile and oral defensiveness, attention, sitting tolerance, and social participation. Short sensory profile score improved from 128 to 158, and Goal Attainment Scale scores showed achievement of the targeted goal. Conclusion: SI- based occupational therapy improved sensory processing, occupational performance, and participation in the child with ASD. |
