Abstract Feeding is a daily activity that requires sucking, chewing, swallowing and coordinating breathing so that children can consume food and fluids safely and efficiently. Children with ASD frequently experience feeding problems due to food selectivity, atypical mealtime behaviours, food refusal and preferences for specific textures or colours. The present study aimed to translate, adapt and validate the BPFAS Malayalam to evaluate feeding behaviour in TD children and children with ASD. A total of 50 children aged 3-8 years (including children with ASD & TD children) completed the BPFAS Malayalam questionnaire. The results revealed that children with ASD exhibited poorer feeding behaviour than TD children on both frequency and problem for you scores of the BPFAS-Malayalam questionnaire. Test-retest reliability was excellent among TD Children and children with ASD, concurrent validation with the BAMBI M revealed a strong positive correlation. Thus, BPFAS Malayalam is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing feeding behaviour in children with ASD. It supports early identification, diagnosis and intervention for feeding problems and serves as a valuable tool for speech language pathologists (SLPs) to assess feeding difficulties, monitor treatment progress and evaluate the impact of different feeding strategies.
