| Abstract | Effectiveness of a Structured Teaching Program on Knowledge and Practice of Healthy Lifestyle Among High School Adolescents INTRODUCTION Adolescence is a critical developmental period during which healthy lifestyle behaviours are established. Inadequate knowledge and unhealthy practices among adolescents can increase the risk of lifestyle-related diseases in later life. Structured teaching programs can play a significant role in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours among school-going adolescents. METHODS: A pre-experimental one-group pretest-post-test study was conducted among high school adolescents to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on knowledge and practice regarding healthy lifestyle. Participants were selected using an appropriate sampling technique. Baseline knowledge and practice were assessed using structured questionnaires and practice checklists. Following the pretest, a structured teaching program was administered. Post-test assessment was conducted after a specified interval. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: The findings revealed a significant improvement in the mean post-tests knowledge and practice scores compared to the pretest scores. The structured teaching program was found to be effective in enhancing adolescents' knowledge and practice regarding healthy lifestyle behaviours. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant difference between pretest and post-tests scores (p < 0.05). Discussion The study findings indicate that structured teaching programs are effective educational interventions for improving knowledge and practice related to healthy lifestyles among high school adolescents. Schools should incorporate regular health education programs to promote healthy behaviors and prevent future lifestyle-related diseases. |
