A Study to Assess Knowledge Regarding Cardiac Rehabilitation among Family Members of Cardiac Patient Admitted in LPS Institute of Cardiology, Kanpur, in a View to Develop Self Instructional Module (SIM)

Abstract Introduction-Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with the majority of these deaths occurring in a low to middle income countries. India is also experiencing a large rise in chronic diseases, especially heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Cardiovascular diseases were the largest cause of death and disability in 2020 in India.Title: “A study to assess knowledge regarding cardiac rehabilitation among family members of cardiac patient admitted in LPS Institute of Cardiology, Kanpur in a view to develop self instructional module (SIM)”.
Objectives- To assess the knowledge regarding cardiac rehabilitation among family members of cardiac patient.To find the association between the pre test knowledge scores with selected demographic variable among family members of cardiac patient.To develop a self instructional module for family members of cardiac patient regarding cardiac rehabilitation.
Methods:The non experimental descriptive design was conducted at LPS Institute of Cardiology, Kanpur to assess the knowledge regarding cardiac
rehabilitation among family members of cardiac patient in a view to develop self instructional module (SIM). Firstly 100 family members are included in the study by using non probability purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by using structured questionnaire. The total score was 30and divided as 0-10 (inappropriate knowledge score), 10-20 (moderate knowledge score), and 20-30 (well adequate knowledge score).Result:It was found that majority of the family members (65%) had inappropriate knowledge score, 27% had moderate knowledge score and remaining 8% had well adequate knowledge score.Total mean score was 9.47 Chi square was used to find out the association between the sociodemographic variables with the knowledge score. The present study reveals that there is an association between religion, monthly family income and habits
