Author(s) Dr. Nitin Samatbhai Katariya, Prof. Dr. D. B. Vaghela
Country India
Abstract This review article examines Badhirya (hearing impairment/deafness) from both Ayurvedic and modern perspectives, with a special focus on Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). It analyzes classical Ayurvedic concepts, causes, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches, and compares them with contemporary medical understanding. The review highlights the potential role of Panchakarma therapies (such as Karnapurana, Nasya, and Shirobasti) and Ayurvedic herbal formulations in managing hearing disorders. It concludes that integrating Ayurvedic principles with evidence-based modern medicine may offer promising strategies for the management of SNHL and related auditory dysfunctions.
