Abstract TITLE - PREVALENCE OF WORK RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DYSFUNCTION IN SCULPTING INDUSTRY- A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY. Background - Sculpting is a physically demanding job that may increase your risk of developing musculoskeletal ailments due to repetitive actions, uncomfortable positions, and heavy lifting. This study looks into the prevalence of musculoskeletal dysfunction and how it's related to postural risk factors, demographics, and work characteristics among sculptors, as they must adopt uncomfortable posture that causes musculoskeletal discomfort.Understanding these risks and their prevalence is crucial for improving safety and health standards in the industry. Thus sculpting industry workers are exposed to a high chance of developing MSD and therefore, this study will be conducted to study the prevalence of MSD in such a population and to understand its severity. Methodology - It was an observational cross sectional study conducted in community of sculpting industry workers. 100 samples were taken by convenience sampling method. Inclusion criteria - Adult Sculptor (25- 45 year of age group), All gender, had minimum 3 year work experience. Informed consent was taken. Musculoskeletal pain was assessed using Nordic musculoskeletal pain questionnaire (English, Hindi version) and statistical analysis was done.Results- The study shows that work-related musculoskeletal dysfunctions (WMSDs) are very common and come back often. It also shows that these conditions have a big effect on sculptors' daily lives(Fig.No.5), showing how they limit their ability to do things. Wrist and hand pain were the most common kind of pain that got in the way of daily activities (40%), followed by upper back pain (30%), lower back pain (20%), and neck pain (10%).Conclusion - This cross-sectional study shows that sculptors have a prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal diseases (WMSDs), especially in the neck, upper back, and wrist/hand areas. These problems are chronic, recurrent, and generally caused by poor posture, static work positions, and repetitive movements. The results show that sculptors need to make changes to their workstations, get ergonomic help, learn how to sit and stand properly, and switch up their tasks to reduce physical strain and improve their health at work.
