Prevalence of Dental Oral Health Services Information Uptake to Promote Dental Oral Care among Population Health Attending Rutongo District Hospital, Rwanda

Abstract Prevalence of dental oral health services information uptake to promote dental oral care is pivot of the general Oral health is a fundamental component of overall well-being; however, it remains inadequately prioritized in many public health systems worldwide. The World Health Organization estimates that oral diseases affect approximately 3.5 billion people globally, with a disproportionate burden in low- and middle-income countries. In Sub-Saharan Africa, including Rwanda, utilization of dental and oral health services remains low due to systemic, behavioral, and informational barriers. In Rulindo District, documentation regarding dental health information and service utilization has been limited. This study, prevalence of dental oral health services information uptake to promote dental oral care among population health, and lastly assess how knowledge, attitude, and practice are associated with uptake of dental oral services to promote dental oral care among population health attending Rutongo District Hospital A cross-sectional descriptive design employing a triangulation approach was used, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. A total of 384 respondents participated in the study. The majority of participants were aged 26–35 years 121, 31.5%), while 21% (81), were above 46 years. Females constituted 54.9% of the respondents and males 45.1%. Most participants had primary education (35.7%), whereas only 9.1% had attained university education. Farmers represented the largest occupational group 157(40.9%). The prevalence of dental oral health service uptake at Rutongo District Hospital was 46% (179). With significant protective value of RR (0.46, 0.53), and Pvalue of 0.23. Results showed that, 51.3% (197), of respondents were aware that need to brush their teeth twice-daily brushing as the recommended practice, with significant protection of P values 0.030, and RR( 0.51, 0.12), of dental oral hygiene
