| Abstract | Background: The role of the mind in the genesis and perpetuation of disease occupies a central position in homoeopathic philosophy, as articulated in Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine and elaborated through Hahnemann's miasmatic theory and Kent's hierarchical framework of symptom evaluation. Contemporary neuroscience and psychosomatic medicine increasingly highlight the influence of mental and emotional factors on health through concepts such as the neuro-immuno-endocrine axis, psychoneuroimmunology, and the biopsychosocial model. Objective: To examine the homoeopathic concept of the mind as the primary seat of disease and correlate it with modern neurobiological and psychosomatic evidence. Methods: Conceptual synthesis integrating classical homoeopathic texts, Hahnemann's Organon, Chronic Diseases, Kent's Lectures on Homoeopathic Philosophy, Repertory, and Materia Medica with contemporary literature in neuroscience and psychosomatic medicine. Results: Homoeopathic emphasis on mental symptoms (Aphorisms 210–230; Kent's symptom hierarchy) shows conceptual similarities with contemporary findings in HPA axis dysregulation, neuroplasticity, psychoneuroimmunology, and epigenetics. Miasmatic theory may be viewed as conceptually comparable to modern discussions of inherited psychosomatic susceptibility. Conclusion: A meaningful convergence appears to exist between homoeopathic philosophy and modern biomedical science regarding the influence of mental and emotional factors on health and disease, advocating an individualised, holistic approach. |
