Abstract The position of women in society has undergone significant transformation in the twenty-first century, shaped by globalization, technological advancement, educational expansion, and evolving social norms. Despite notable progress in gender equality, women continue to confront structural inequalities embedded within social, political, economic, and cultural institutions. This article examines the dynamic relationship between women and society through the interconnected concepts of identity, agency, and social change. Drawing upon feminist theories, sociological perspectives, and contemporary scholarship, the study explores how women negotiate personal and collective identities within patriarchal structures while simultaneously exercising agency to challenge systems of oppression. The article further investigates the role of education, employment, digital technologies, and social movements in facilitating women’s empowerment and social transformation. By highlighting the complexities of women’s lived experiences across diverse social contexts, the study argues that meaningful social change requires not only legal and institutional reforms but also a fundamental restructuring of gendered power relations. The article contributes to ongoing discussions concerning gender justice, female subjectivity, and the evolving role of women in contemporary societies.
