Abstract This study explores the influence of education on women’s economic empowerment and how such empowerment contributes to sustainable development practices. Education plays a very crucial role in shaping individuals, communities, and nations, although its reach is still uneven in many parts of the world. It not only enhances productivity and awareness but also strengthens confidence and decision-making ability among women. In rural contexts, especially, women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have increasingly expressed a desire for financial independence, which becomes a major step toward empowerment.
The paper further discusses how education leads to improved health, literacy, and family welfare outcomes. It also examines the broader relationship between women’s empowerment and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The findings suggest that access to quality education significantly improves women’s participation in economic, social, and even political spheres, though certain structural challenges still remain. The study concludes that promoting inclusive and high-quality education for women is essential for long-term sustainable development.
