| Abstract | Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in economic development by enabling individuals to utilise their skills, generate employment, and contribute to community progress. In recent years, women entrepreneurship has emerged as a significant driver of inclusive growth, particularly in developing economies like India. The present study examines the importance of women entrepreneurship in traditional societies, with special reference to Andhra Pradesh. It highlights the socio-cultural, economic, and institutional challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including gender bias, limited access to resources, fear of failure, and inadequate institutional support. The study further analyses the role of government initiatives such as Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWACRA) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in promoting entrepreneurial activities among women. It also evaluates the contributions of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in providing training, financial assistance, and market linkages to rural women entrepreneurs. The paper explores the emerging vision of fostering at least one entrepreneur from each household and outlines essential policy measures such as skill development, access to credit, and ease of doing business. The study concludes that sustained governmental support, institutional backing, and social transformation through education are essential for building a robust ecosystem for women entrepreneurship. Strengthening these elements can significantly contribute to grassroots economic development and women empowerment in Andhra Pradesh. |
