| Abstract | Social enterprises and sustainable start-ups have emerged as significant drivers of inclusive and responsible economic growth in India. In the context of rising environmental challenges, social inequality, unemployment, and regional disparities, traditional profit-oriented business models are increasingly proving inadequate to address complex developmental issues. This paper examines the growing importance of social enterprises and sustainable start-ups in India and their role in integrating economic growth with social responsibility. The study explores the conceptual framework of social and sustainable entrepreneurship, analyzes their contributions to employment generation, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, and community development, and evaluates the opportunities and challenges faced by such enterprises in the Indian context. Based on secondary data from government reports, research studies, and policy documents, the paper highlights the role of supportive government initiatives, impact investment, and technological innovation in promoting sustainable and social entrepreneurship. The study concludes that strengthening institutional support, improving access to finance, and fostering innovation ecosystems are essential for maximizing the social and environmental impact of these enterprises and achieving long-term sustainable development in India. |
