| Abstract | Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth, innovation, and employment generation, particularly in developing economies like India. Recognizing its importance, the Government of India has introduced several public policy initiatives to promote a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. This study examines the role and effectiveness of key initiatives such as the Start-up India initiative, MSME schemes including Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, Stand-Up India Scheme, and ASPIRE Scheme, as well as incubation support systems under the Atal Innovation Mission. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design based on secondary data collected from government reports, research articles, and policy documents. Through thematic and comparative analysis, it evaluates the impact of these initiatives on innovation, access to finance, employment generation, and startup sustainability. The findings reveal that public policies have significantly strengthened entrepreneurship by improving access to credit, fostering innovation, and enhancing startup survival through incubation support. Initiatives like Start-up India have contributed to the growth of the startup ecosystem, while MSME schemes have promoted inclusive entrepreneurship, particularly among women and marginalized groups. Incubators have further played a crucial role in providing mentorship, infrastructure, and networking opportunities. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including limited awareness, regional disparities, infrastructural constraints, bureaucratic hurdles, and gaps in policy implementation. The concentration of benefits in urban areas highlights the need for more balanced regional development. The study concludes that while public policy initiatives have laid a strong foundation for entrepreneurship development in India, their effectiveness depends on improved implementation, better coordination, and enhanced inclusivity. Strengthening awareness, expanding rural outreach, and fostering institutional collaboration are essential to building a sustainable and dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem. |
