| Abstract | Women entrepreneurship has emerged as an important instrument for economic development, employment generation, and social empowerment in India. The present study titled “Problems and Constraints of Women Entrepreneurs in Chittoor District–An Analytical Study” examines the major challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in the district and analyses the socio-economic factors influencing their entrepreneurial activities. The study is based on primary data collected from a sample of 180 women entrepreneurs through a structured interview schedule. Statistical tools such as percentage analysis, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, and t-test were applied to interpret the data. The findings reveal that financial constraints, tough competition, and marketing problems are the most significant challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. Limited access to credit facilities, inadequate collateral security, and procedural delays in obtaining loans hinder business expansion. Social and cultural constraints, lack of family support, and limited risk-bearing capacity also affect entrepreneurial performance. In addition, insufficient training, lack of managerial skills, and legal and administrative barriers further restrict growth opportunities. The analysis indicates that middle-aged women (35–45 years) constitute the majority of entrepreneurs, and many were previously small labourers or home makers before entering business. This reflects that entrepreneurship has become a pathway for economic mobility and self-reliance. However, structural and institutional barriers continue to limit their full potential. The study concludes that strengthening financial inclusion, enhancing skill development programs, simplifying legal procedures, and promoting family and community support systems are essential for the sustainable growth of women entrepreneurship. The research highlights the need for coordinated efforts from government agencies, financial institutions, and self-help groups to create a supportive ecosystem that empowers women entrepreneurs and contributes to inclusive regional development. |
