Digital Transformation and the Role of Women in India

Author(s) Dr. K. Bade Saheb
Country India
Abstract Digital transformation has significantly reshaped economic, social, and cultural structures across the world. In India, the rapid growth of digital technologies, internet penetration, and government initiatives such as Digital India have created new opportunities for women’s empowerment and participation in the economy. Women are increasingly using digital platforms for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and social networking. However, challenges such as the digital gender divide, lack of digital literacy, socio-cultural barriers, and limited access to technology still persist. This research paper examines the impact of digital transformation on women in India, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and the role of policy interventions in promoting digital inclusion. The study concludes that digital technologies have the potential to empower women socially and economically, but inclusive policies and improved access to digital education are necessary to bridge the existing gap.
