| Abstract | Sustainable and social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative paradigm in emerging economies, particularly in India, where rapid economic growth coexists with environmental stress and socio-economic disparities. This research examines the role of sustainable and social entrepreneurship in fostering environmentally responsible and socially impactful business ventures in the Indian context. The study analyzes contemporary entrepreneurial models that integrate ecological stewardship, inclusive development, and economic viability within a unified framework. Drawing upon qualitative case studies, policy documents, and secondary data from government and institutional reports, the research identifies critical drivers such as regulatory support, rising consumer environmental awareness, technological innovation, and impact investment trends. The findings reveal that sustainable and social enterprises in India contribute significantly to waste reduction, renewable energy adoption, rural livelihood generation, women empowerment, and community development. At the same time, the study highlights persistent challenges, including limited access to impact-oriented finance, difficulties in measuring social and environmental performance, regulatory complexities, and scalability constraints. The research emphasizes the importance of the Triple Bottom Line approach—balancing economic profitability with social equity and environmental sustainability—as a guiding principle for long-term entrepreneurial success. The paper concludes that sustainable and social entrepreneurship is not merely a niche sector but a strategic pathway for achieving inclusive and resilient economic development in India. Strengthening institutional support systems, promoting standardized impact measurement frameworks, and enhancing collaborative ecosystems are essential for scaling environmentally responsible and socially impactful business ventures. |
