| Abstract | Entrepreneurship is a significant economic factor that affects increasing output, generating employment, and driving innovation in emerging economies. The government of India, to support the entrepreneurial ideas of youth, has formulated the Start-up India Initiative to support emerging startups and to promote innovation in 2016. The purpose of the Start-up India initiative is to create a supportive environment by providing proper funding, mentorship, and simplified regulations to emerging startups. This study aims to understand the achievements of start-up India initiative and to examine its opportunities and challenges, and how it has shaped the startup ecosystem. The study shows that the Start-up India initiative has given a positive growth in employment, getting foreign investments, and decentralizing development, but is facing some constraints, such as funding, regulatory issues, and awareness, which are affecting the growth of Start-ups in India. Understanding and working on challenges such as strengthening funding, creating awareness, and adapting new technologies will help in creating a much better startup ecosystem. |
