Entrepreneurship and Start-ups in India: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Road Ahead with Special Reference to Unorganised Labourers of Assam

Author(s) Mr. Pradip Kumar Saha
Country India
Abstract Entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystems have emerged as significant drivers of economic growth, innovation, and employment generation in India. Government initiatives like Start-Up India, Stand-Up India, and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) provide financial and advisory support for new ventures. Despite these measures, a substantial portion of India’s workforce, particularly in Assam, remains in the unorganised sector, facing low wages, poor working conditions, and limited access to credit. This paper explores the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship for unorganised labourers in Assam, combining literature review, secondary data, and policy analysis. It also proposes measures for enhancing participation of informal workers in entrepreneurial activities, aiming to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
