| Abstract | Digital transformation and emerging technologies are reshaping the foundations of value creation, delivery, and capture across industries. Organizations are moving from product-centric and pipeline-based approaches to platform, ecosystem, subscription, and data-driven models enabled by technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and blockchain (Bharadwaj et al., 2013; Verhoef et al., 2021). This paper examines how digital transformation enables business model innovation, identifies major digital business model archetypes, and analyzes the role of emerging technologies in driving new forms of value propositions, revenue mechanisms, and customer engagement. It also discusses key challenges related to organizational capabilities, regulation, inclusion, and sustainability, and offers strategic implications for firms and policymakers. The discussion is particularly relevant for emerging economies like India that are nurturing vibrant entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystems and where policymakers emphasize themes such as innovation, technological advancement, and digital entrepreneurship. |
