| Abstract | Sustainable and social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative approach to addressing pressing environmental and social challenges. This paper examines how entrepreneurial initiatives integrate sustainability principles with social impact objectives to create inclusive and responsible business models. It explores the role of innovation, policy support, and digital transformation in fostering such enterprises, particularly in the Indian context. The study highlights key challenges, opportunities, and strategies to strengthen sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems, with special reference to rural development and MSMEs. Sustainable and social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative paradigm in addressing the dual challenges of environmental sustainability and social development. Drawing on secondary data from academic literature, government reports, and institutional publications, the study analyzes the contribution of MSMEs in advancing sustainable development goals. It highlights how innovation, digital technologies, and supportive policy frameworks have enabled entrepreneurs to integrate economic, environmental, and social objectives into their business models. The research finds that sustainable and social enterprises significantly contribute to employment generation, rural development, and resource conservation. However, the growth of such ventures is constrained by challenges including limited access to finance, inadequate infrastructure, lack of awareness, and regulatory complexities. The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening institutional mechanisms, promoting entrepreneurship education, and enhancing digital and financial inclusion to support these enterprises. Furthermore, it suggests fostering public-private partnerships and developing standardized impact measurement frameworks. The paper concludes that sustainable and social entrepreneurship holds immense potential to drive inclusive and resilient economic growth while addressing pressing environmental and societal issues in India. |
