Problematology in the Mahabharata: Ethical Dilemmas, Human Conflicts, and the Philosophy of Questioning

Author(s) Sukumar Mohanty, Dr. Jayprakash Paramaguru
Country India
Abstract This paper examines the Mahabharata through the theoretical framework of Problematology, a philosophy of questioning associated with Michel Meyer. The epic is explored as a text that foregrounds questions rather than definitive answers. Through an analysis of dharma, justice, identity, power, war, fate, and moral responsibility, the study demonstrates that the Mahabharata remains relevant because it presents complex human problems that resist simple solutions. The paper argues that the epic functions as a continuous dialogue on ethical uncertainty and human existence.
