Author(s) Ms. Aditi Dubey
Country India
Abstract The research paper delves into the protracted dispute between India and Pakistan over the territory of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the intertwined narratives of sovereignty, conflict, and insurgency that have plagued the region since Independence. It examines the legal and ideological foundations underpinning each nation's claim to the region, elucidating the historical context that has shaped their contentious relationship. The paper also explores the evolution of insurgency in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, from its origins in the late 1980s to its resurgence in recent years, with a focus on the role of social media in shaping the conflict landscape. Additionally, it analyzes the impact of key events, such as the abrogation of Article 370, on the region's security dynamics and prospects for peace. Through a retrospective lens, the paper provides insights into the complex interplay of political, social, and economic factors that continue to define the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.
