| Abstract | The Millangs are a sub-group of the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, residing in the villages of Millang, Dalbing and Peki Modi in Upper Siang District. In early days inter-tribal and intra-tribal warfare and conflict were part of everyday day life. Hence, this tribe has maintained traditional defence and offense system. This article analyzes Millang traditional practice of community expedition for aconite-hunting known as Decha from snowy high mountains believed to be resided by various malevolent spirits causing harm to human beings. To avoid the evil of these spirits, they have to performed various rituals and observe taboos. |
