| Abstract | This study examined the effectiveness of AI-based instructional strategies on the engagement of Grade 7 students in Mathematics at Socorro National High School during School Year 2025–2026. Using an Explanatory Sequential Mixed Methods Design, quantitative data were collected from 179 students and 3 Mathematics teachers through a validated survey questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained from open-ended responses. Findings revealed that AI-based instructional strategies had a very high influence on students’ behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and equitable engagement. Students demonstrated increased participation, motivation, problem-solving ability, self-regulation, and inclusive learning experiences. Significant differences in engagement were observed based on internet access and availability of AI resources, while a significant positive relationship existed between overall student engagement and cognitive engagement. Qualitative results identified barriers such as limited internet connectivity, device constraints, language difficulties, and concerns regarding AI reliability. The study recommends a Policy Intervention Plan for AI Integration to promote effective, equitable, and sustainable AI-supported Mathematics instruction in rural schools. |
