A Comparative Study of Employee Retention Strategies Between Generation X and Z in the IT Sector of Odisha

| Abstract | The issue of employee retention has garnered the interest of both academics and professionals, particularly due to the increasing presence of Generation X and Z employees in the workforce. The literature suggests that there is a need the research on employee retention specifically focused on Gen X and Z employees. Through an empirical study, this research has identified four specific HR strategies that have an impact on the retention of Generation X and Z employees. These practices include creating a supportive working environment, providing compensation and benefits, and HR development opportunities. An empirical study was conducted utilizing 521 samples collected from IT sectors according to our questionnaires to analyze the influence of HR strategies on the retention of Gen X and Z employees as per strategies. The results of the ANOVA analysis revealed that the four HR strategies exert a substantial impact on employee retention. The analysis demonstrated the hypotheses that supportive organizational culture and compensation & benefits have a greater significance for Gen X employees, whereas flexible work organisation and HR development strongly influence the retention of Gen Z employees. |
