| Abstract | Lip care products are widely used to protect lips from dryness, cracking, pigmentation, and environmental damage. Kojic acid is a natural skin-lightening agent produced by fungal fermentation and is commonly used in cosmetic preparations because of its melanin-inhibiting activity. The present research work focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a kojic acid lip balm prepared using natural waxes, oils, and moisturizing agents. Different formulations were prepared by varying the concentration of kojic acid and evaluated for physical appearance, pH, melting point, spreadability, homogeneity, stability, and irritation test. The prepared lip balm showed good consistency, smooth texture, acceptable pH, and satisfactory stability. The study concluded that kojic acid lip balm can be successfully formulated for lip moisturization and reduction of lip pigmentation. |
