| Abstract | Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being applied in sport psychology to monitor, predict, and support athlete psychological functioning. Competitive anxiety and team cohesion are two important psychological factors that influence individual and team performance. This narrative review examines the role of AI-based technologies, including machine learning, wearable sensors, affective computing, natural language processing, and Chatbot-based interventions, in managing competitive anxiety and enhancing team cohesion among athletes. The review synthesizes theoretical perspectives from sport psychology and emerging evidence from AI-supported mental health and sports analytics. Findings suggest that AI can support real-time anxiety detection, personalized psychological feedback, communication analysis, and team-dynamics monitoring. However, current evidence remains limited by a shortage of athlete-specific studies, ethical concerns, data privacy issues, lack of longitudinal research, and limited ecological validity. The review proposes that AI should be used as a supportive tool alongside coaches and sport psychologists rather than as a replacement for human expertise. Future research should focus on explainable AI, field-based validation, athlete-specific interventions, and ethical data governance in sport settings. |
