Posture in the Digital Era: Investigating the Relationship Between Screen Time and Postural Health Among Students

Author(s) Mr. Ishaan Sood

Abstract This pilot study investigated the relationship between screen time and postural health among school and college students using a cross-sectional online survey (N = 20). Data on screen time, device-use behaviours, ergonomic awareness, and musculoskeletal discomfort were collected and analysed using descriptive statistics. Smartphones were the primary device used by most participants, and device use while lying on a bed was highly prevalent. Participants with higher daily screen time reported a greater prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints than those with lower screen time. The findings suggest that prolonged screen use and poor ergonomic habits may be associated with adverse postural health outcomes. Further research with larger and more diverse populations is recommended.
