| Abstract | This research paper presents a comprehensive study of Indian music (Sangeet), focusing on its origin,evolution, structure, and cultural significance. The study traces the roots of Indian music from the Vedicperiod, particularly the Samaveda, and examines its development through ancient, medieval, and modern periods.It explains the concept of music along with its three major components—vocal, instrumental, and dance.The paper further discusses the fundamental elements of music such as swar, taal, and laya, which formthe structural foundation of Indian music. Special emphasis is given to the raga system, its classification,characteristics, and emotional impact. |
