| Abstract | Bronnie Ware's The Top Five Regrets of the Dying offers a compelling reflection on the emotional realities that emerge at the end of life. This reflective review examines the book through the perspectives of existential, humanistic, mindfulness-based, and positive psychology, highlighting how the five regrets illuminate enduring psychological themes of authenticity, work-life balance, emotional expression, social connectedness, and the pursuit of happiness. Rather than serving as a conventional summary, the review interprets Ware's narratives in light of contemporary psychological theory and therapeutic practice, demonstrating their relevance for emotional well-being, value-based living, and preventive mental health. Particular attention is given to the applicability of these insights within the socio-cultural context of India and other developing societies, where collectivist values, family obligations, and cultural expectations shape life choices and experiences of regret. The review concludes that Ware's work remains a valuable resource for clinicians, educators, and mental health professionals by encouraging reflective living, psychologically informed decision-making, and greater awareness of the emotional dimensions of ageing and the human life course. |
