Author(s) Ian P. Abuzo, Vicente Salvador E. Montaño
Country Philippines
Abstract This study aimed to develop a best fit resiliency model for manufacturing industry in the Caraga Region, Philippines by examining the influence of organizational resources, agility maturity, supply chain management, and risk management on business resiliency. Guided by Dynamic Capabilities Theory and related organizational theories, the study utilized a quantitative non-experimental research design. Data were collected from 308 managers and supervisors from large manufacturing companies using adapted and validated survey questionnaires. Pearson Product Moment Correlation, multiple regression analysis, and Structural Equation Modelling were used in analyzing the data. Findings revealed that all predictor variables were significantly associated with business resiliency. The best fit structural model demonstrated that agility maturity emerged as the strongest predictor of business resiliency, while organizational resources did not show a significant direct effect in the final structural model. It is therefore concluded that the resiliency of large manufacturing industry is largely strengthened through adaptive and agility driven organizational capabilities, supporting Dynamic Capabilities Theory. The developed model may serve as a basis for strengthening management strategies and practices, government programs and initiatives and future research endeavors or expansions about resiliency frameworks.
