| Abstract | Due to the fast development of digital communication technologies and the creation of distributed computing architecture, it is crucial to ensure the security of communication through effective and safe authentication schemes that can protect data privacy within cybersecurity frameworks. The most efficient cryptographic method for such purposes is zero knowledge proof since it provides ultimate security by proving the authenticity without disclosing any sensitive data to the verifying party. It is fascinating to look into the zero-knowledge proof protocol based on graph isomorphism because of its mathematical nature. A detailed discussion on the graph isomorphism based zero-knowledge authentication techniques along with their significance in the current cryptography is presented in this paper. Working principles and concepts behind graph theoretic based authentication techniques and the concept of graph isomorphism and zero-knowledge proofs have been discussed in this paper. Besides, emerging application areas of these protocols in disciplines like cybersecurity, block-chain. Internet of Things security, cloud computing and post-quantum cryptography have also been highlighted in this paper.
