| Abstract | Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies in modern healthcare, offering innovative solutions to improve patient safety, clinical decision-making, and healthcare efficiency. In critical care settings, where patients require continuous monitoring and rapid interventions, AI-assisted clinical decision support systems enable nurses to identify patient deterioration, prioritize care, predict complications, and optimize treatment planning. AI technologies, including machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing, and deep learning, can analyze vast amounts of clinical data in real time and generate evidence-based recommendations that support nursing judgment. Despite these advantages, several challenges remain, including concerns regarding data privacy, algorithmic bias, ethical issues, inadequate training, and overdependence on automated systems. The successful implementation of AI depends on the knowledge, digital competency, and critical thinking skills of nurses. Rather than replacing nurses, AI should be viewed as a supportive tool that enhances clinical reasoning while preserving human-centered care. This review discusses the applications, benefits, challenges, ethical considerations, and future directions of AI in clinical decision-making among critical care nurses and highlights the importance of integrating AI education into nursing practice and curricula. |
