| Abstract | Financial inclusion plays a vital role in promoting sustainable economic development by providing individuals and businesses with access to affordable and reliable financial services. In India, rapid advancements in digital payment technologies, supported by initiatives such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and the Jan Dhan–Aadhaar–Mobile (JAM) Trinity, have significantly expanded access to formal financial services. This secondary research paper examines the relationship between digital financial inclusion and economic development in India by reviewing existing literature and reports from credible sources, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and World Economic Forum (WEF). The study explores how digital payment innovations have improved financial access, reduced transaction costs, supported MSMEs, and promoted the formalization of the economy. The review also discusses key challenges, including the digital divide, cybersecurity risks, data privacy concerns, and unequal access to digital infrastructure. The findings suggest that digital financial inclusion has substantially strengthened India's financial ecosystem and contributed to economic growth. However, continued investment in digital literacy, infrastructure, and effective regulatory frameworks is necessary to ensure that the benefits of digital finance are inclusive, secure, and sustainable. |
