| Abstract | Hybrid nano-delivery systems that combine ethosomes with metallic nanoparticles signify an exciting advancement in antimicrobial therapy. Ethosomes, due to their phospholipid-based vesicular structure, enable deep dermal penetration and enhance drug bioavailability. Meanwhile, metallic nanoparticles like silver or zinc oxide offer inherent antimicrobial properties through the generation of reactive oxygen species and disruption of membranes. This synergistic combination boosts therapeutic effectiveness by improving drug permeation while also delivering direct bactericidal effects, thus addressing the shortcomings of traditional formulations. Recent studies underscore their potential in tackling multidrug-resistant pathogens, lowering dosage requirements, and reducing systemic toxicity. Additionally, the hybrid method provides flexibility for encapsulating both hydrophilic and lipophilic agents, making it suitable for a wide range of pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical applications. Consequently, this dual-functional system establishes a strong foundation for next-generation antimicrobial strategies, aligning with global priorities for innovative solutions to combat resistant infections. Future research should focus on optimizing formulation stability, scalability, and long-term safety to facilitate clinical translation. Moreover, regulatory standardization and in vivo validation will be crucial to fully realize their potential in mainstream therapeutic applications. |
