| Abstract | The growing adoption of AI-driven technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analysis and automation has transformed banking operations. This paper reviews the role of AI in optimising operational efficiency in the banking sector, synthesising evidence from recent scholarly literature. The study is based on a narrative review of an analysis of the previous 34 peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2025. The study concludes that AI has become a strategic driver of enhancing banking efficacy, but AI requires a strong governance structure for ethical use. The review also discusses the major applications of AI in banking, such as fraud detection, answering queries, credit-risk management, etc |
