Abstract Abstract
The rapid growth of digital payment technologies has significantly transformed consumer financial behaviour in urban India. The increasing adoption of digital payment platforms has enhanced convenience, transparency and financial accessibility while influencing consumers financial management practices. This study examines the impact of digital payment adoption on financial management behaviour among urban consumers in Chennai City. A descriptive research design with a quantitative approach was employed to collect primary data from 160 respondents using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Cronbachs Alpha, correlation, multiple regression, ANOVA, Chi-square, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The findings indicate that digital payment adoption positively influences budgeting, expenditure control, savings behaviour and financial decision-making. The study also reveals that demographic factors significantly influence consumers adoption of digital payment systems. The research provides valuable insights for financial institutions, policymakers and fintech companies to promote digital financial inclusion and responsible financial management. The study contributes to the growing literature on digital finance and consumer behaviour in the Indian urban context.
