| Abstract | The gap between school-based preparation and industry practice remains a critical challenge in the Philippine Senior High School Work Immersion Program. This phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of 16 purposively selected Grade 12 TVL-Home Economics students from private institutions in Davao City. Using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions analyzed thematically, the study examined students' challenges, coping strategies, and insights during workplace immersion. Anchored in Experiential, Situated, and Social Cognitive learning theories, thematic analysis yielded 16 themes and 98 core ideas: five challenge themes reflecting structural misalignments and operational unpreparedness; five coping themes demonstrating adaptive, self-directed learning through mentoring and peer collaboration; and six insight themes encompassing technical growth, professional discipline, and career realization. Findings confirm that authentic workplace exposure produces meaningful professional formation, yet persistent gaps in pre-immersion readiness and school-industry coordination limit learning depth. This study offers curriculum developers, educators, and policymakers a student-centered qualitative foundation for strengthening immersion implementation and aligning vocational education with industry standards. |
