Abstract The Indian capital market has witnessed a surge in IPOs in recent years, reflecting increased investor interest and corporate fundraising activities. This study examines the short-term performance of IPOs listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) by assessing variations between issue price, listing price, and early post-listing market performance across different IPO issue-size categories. A dataset comprising four groups of IPOs ranging from Rs.100 Cr to over Rs.15500 Cr, This study examines the short-term performance of IPOs listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) using data from Jan 2025 to Dec 2025. The study focuses on listing-day returns to assess the extent of mispricing, and it was analyzed to understand listing gains and immediate price fluctuations. The findings indicate that most IPOs generate positive listing returns, the magnitude of gains varies significantly with issue size, market sentiment, and company fundamentals. The study provides insights for investors, stockbrokers, qualified institutional buyers, and stakeholders about short-term IPO performance patterns and offers suggestions for making informed investment decisions.
