Abstract The capability to effectively use digital resources has become essential for students in higher education, enabling them to locate, evaluate, create, and share information through digital platforms.
University libraries play a key role in promoting digital literacy by providing access to digital tools, internet services, and programs that enhance information skills. However, colleges located in rural areas face several challenges, including weak information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, limited internet connectivity, insufficient funding, and a shortage of trained library personnel. This review explores the role of college libraries in supporting digital literacy within the rural regions of Nashik Division in Maharashtra. It highlights how library services help bridge the digital divide and improve students' digital competencies. The study also identifies current shortcomings and recommends enhancements in ICT facilities, librarian training, financial support, and digital literacy initiatives to improve the quality of education in rural higher education institutions.
